ENO By Zaza Makes Way For The 5th St. Cafe

ENO by Zaza closed last week and I now have confirmation on what's up next for the prime spot in midtown. Owner Zaza Pachulia will reopen the midtown eatery in early June with the help of business partners A.D. Allushi and Chef Ian Winslade as the 5th St. Cafe. Atlanta Hawk Zaza Pachulia purchased the midtown eatery in August of last year and at that point seemed intent on continuing the operation, and its sister concept Barrelman as they were. Both opened in 1999 but now both are being re-concepted. ENO by Zaza will become more casual in its re-concepting to the 5th St. Cafe, trading in its Mediterranean and European influenced cuisine for bistro fare such as charcuterie plates of meats and cheeses, frisee salad with bacon, shallot vinaigrette and soft poached egg, potato gnocchi and spring vegetables. Barrelman, previously purveyor of artisan cheeses, wines and unique specialty products, will be included under the 5th St. Cafe name umbrella but will be remodeled into a bakery with fresh breads and pastries and will continue Barrelman's popular wine club membership. Patti Krohngold of Art Mix will aid in the redesign of the space and is also at work completing the group's other project, Buckhead Bottle Bar, (BBB) in Buckhead near Cafe Agora. Though nothing is official and the menu is still being tweaked, I'm told that entrees will be about $20, so this new concept should fit nicely in the neighborhood. Seeking details on the status of the restaurant last week, I asked numerous midtown residents and some hospitality employees what they knew of the closing. Considering how few realized the restaurant had closed, hopefully they will be pleasantly surprised by the new concept. ToNeTo Atlanta
